Later that night we went back to Fremantle for a third time. Debbie & Adam came too. We stuffed ourselves silly at a Mexican restaurant. (Mmm…) Then went to the Fremantle Prison for a torchlight tour. The prison was opened in the 1880’s & remained open until 1991. The conditions in this place were terrible so I was shocked to find out how long it remained open till. The tour walked us through many buildings, even where the gallows were. Along the way there were theatrics to spook us & demonstrate how prisoners lives were. The tour ended in the Prison Chapel where people today can get married (creepy eh?). We all had a good time though & got to see Fremantle history first hand.

Fremantle: touristing up the suburbs
Fremantle is a suburb of Perth that Ashley & I visited three times this week. It was settled in 1829 by the British as the first colony on Swan River & still to this day remains a key harbor for Western Australia. On Wednesday we went there just to scope the place out. We walked to shops & had lunch. During that visit we found out Fremantle has a couple weekend markets so on Friday we went to out there again. Ashley & I visited both the markets & I bought a couple souvenirs.
